Cat Dehydration - Causes
What are the causes of dehydration in cats?
- Vomiting and or diarrhea are the first signs.
- Sickness - A sick cat may go off his food and water , therefore not receive enough fluids and become dehydrated.
- Increase in urination - Medical conditions such as diabetes and renal failure in which the cat urinates more often may cause dehydration.
- Heatstroke
- Lack of fresh drinking water.
- Shock and stress
- Blood loss (Disease or wounds)
- Fever
Dehydration
has three classes:
1.Mild dehydration: up to 5%
2.Moderate dehydration: 5 - 10%
3.Severe dehydration: 10% or more
