Cat hydration


Cat Dehydration - Causes 
What are the causes of dehydration in cats?

  • Vomiting and or diarrhea are the first signs.
  • Sickness - A sick cat may go off his food and water , therefore not receive enough fluids and become dehydrated.
  • Increase in urination - Medical conditions such as diabetes and renal failure in which the cat urinates more often may cause dehydration.
  • Heatstroke
  • Lack of fresh drinking water.
  • Shock and stress
  • Blood loss (Disease or wounds)
  • Fever

Dehydration has three classes:

1.Mild dehydration: up to 5%

2.Moderate dehydration: 5 - 10%

3.Severe dehydration: 10% or more
