How to Make Your Cat Stop Attacking You?

Discipline the cat.
You need to let him know not to do that.
  • One of the most effective ways to discipline a cat is a clean water spray. Squirting the cat in the face or body will stop most cats. They don't like it usually. Once in a while a cat enjoys it and thinks of it as a game. If so, use the spritzer as a distraction.
2 Feed him enough-So he doesn't try to munch on you.
Be sure to keep the litter pan clean and dry. kittens that get annoyed at neglect may be playing rough to get your attention to their needs.Be careful about them.

3 Play with him
Show the cat that you love him and pay attention to him..He will appreciate this. This is the best response at the time of the attack you can use. If the cat's giving love bites or playing stalk and pounce, often it's just that the kitty wants to play as if you're another cat for him!. The thing to do is train the little friend to keep claws in by not playing if the cat actually bites or claws. This takes patience but if you respond by playing whenever the cat's gentle and stop immediately if there's claws, with "No" as your statement, the cat will eventually understand it.
  • Accept that your friend(kitty) wants to play and put on an oven mitt. Swat at the cat with your oven mitt hand. Watch for signs like particular yells, ear swiveling, tail twitching and butt waggling to see if the cat's getting ready to roughhouse. By offering the oven mitt or feather wand to your friend before getting caught, you can respond with a game and both of you enjoy.
  • Always stop playing when the cat claws you. The idea of distraction is to catch the cat's rowdy mood before it turns into accidental violence. Eventually a cat will learn that "Ow" means the game's over and it can be a sign of stop for him. Some cats will learn to swat and grab without claws, and play-bite by hitting you with an open mouth .It takes a long time to teach a  little cat to play Touch Stalk 'N Pounce instead of Tackle, but it can be done if you practice.
4 Buy cat toys.
You should get some at the dollar store, Pet Smart, Walmart, or at a pet shop.Such as catnip, laser toys, teaser wand, little balls that make noise, and etc. The tickle wands and "fishing rods" style toys that put the cat at the distance of a stick are very good for handling rambunctious cats. Keep it handy. Always distract the cat with it.
  • If you don't have a big toy budget like an ordinary bath towel can be a great drag toy. Just drag the towel around for the cat to pounce on it and have fun. When the cat's got a good grip with teeth and claws, drag it around some more of towel. Then dangle it to get pounced again when the cat lets go. Cats really like this and your towel can stand up to it better than your arm. Eventually they know to let you get the towel easily.

5 Buy him treats.
There are high number of  brands of cat treats. Do not feed your cat dog treats or human food for treats. Try different tastes  and types till you find your cat's favorites. Then use the treats to reward good behavior, like soft-paw grabbing, the "non-bite" mouth hitting, playing with toys, giving you time and ample warning to get the oven mitt or towel. Always reward your cat for playing with toys instead of going after your leg. Most often that stalk and pounce just means the cat's bored and wants to play a little more.
